Biltmore Estate® Limited Release Gewurztraminer

Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC

This summer our family took a trip to Asheville, NC (read our travel blog on Gazettour.com). Our main focus was biking. But we took some time to visit some distilleries, breweries, and wineries. One of the places we visited was the Bilmore Estate built by George Vanderbuilt. The 8,000 acre estate, considered the largest single family residence in the United States, sits in the mountains just outside of Asheville. Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC

Biltmore Winery

The Biltmore Winery is located on the 8,000-acre estate a short drive from the main house. Located near one of the hotels on the property and nestled in a quaint shopping village, the Biltmore Winery is a modern, beautiful facility with a wine shop complete with all the Biltmore wines as well as trinkets and typical tourist items – jellies, wine glasses, wine charms, etc.

Biltmore Estate® Limited Release Gewurztraminer

Included with your Biltmore Estate tour ticket is a wine tasting at the Biltmore Winery. We took advantage and enjoyed the tasting. After tasting a few whites, reds and a port, our favorite wine was the Biltmore Estate® Limited Release Gewurztraminer (German: [ɡəˈvʏɐ̯tstʁaˈmiːnɐ]).

The Biltmore Winery website describes the wine as “Highly expressive aromas give way to lush flavors of floral, spice, and fruit.” The wine was deliciously smooth with just the right amount of a floral front with hints of apricot. The Biltmore Winery suggests pairing the wine with blue or gorgonzola cheese, chicken, crab, scallops or a spicy cuisine.

The Gewurztraminer has won a few awards including Double Gold at the North Carolina State Fair Wine Competition, Gold at the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition, and Gold at the American Wine Society.

One of my favorite things about the Biltmore Estate® Limited Release Gewurztraminer has to be the gorgeous label. Designed all in black with gold lettering, the label includes a beautiful picture of the Biltmore Estate and the Vanderbuilt crest at the top.
